Gener8now Limited is an approved Siemens supplier of funding for projects such as Solar (PV), and can assist in the process of securing low interest finance, with loan periods available for up to 7 years. Please refer to our Government Support page for further details.
We provide turnkey project management from design right through to implementation and aftercare, just as with all our energy reduction projects. You also receive all the financial benefits yourself, unlike a number of companies that will provide the panels and then keep the Feed in Tariffs for themselves! This is where the main financial gain to yourself is made!
PHOTOVOLTAICS (PV) – Solar panels
Photovoltaics (PV) is the name of a method used to generate electricity, by ultimately converting energy from the sun’s rays.
The total solar energy absorbed by the earth’s atmosphere, oceans and land masses annually, is approximately 3.850,000 exajoules (EJ) which means that only one hour of this amount of energy would be needed to power the whole world for a year!
Now, due to recent technological advances, everyone can benefit from the vast amount of solar irradiation reaching the earth’s surface. By harnessing this energy and converting it into direct current electricity with the use of semi conductors that exhibit the photovoltaic effect, (commonly known as solar panels), we are able to reduce the need for finite fossil fuels and cut the escalating costs of fueling our homes and businesses.
The 2009 Renewable Energy Directive sets a target for the UK to achieve 15% of its energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020. The Government is committed to increasing the proportion of energy we use from renewable sources and introduced the UK Feed-in Tariff scheme (FIT) on 1st April 2010. This scheme guarantees a minimum payback for all electricity generated by a renewable energy system, as well as, a separate payment for the electricity exported to the national grid. If you are eligible for the scheme then you can benefit in 3 ways as seen below:
Generation tariff - a fixed rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity that you generate.
Export tariff – for each unit of electricity that you export back to the national grid, you will receive a further 3p/kWh from your energy supplier.
Energy bill savings – your electricity bill will be reduced because you will not have to buy as much electricity from your energy supplier if you are generating your own!
