Reducing the Carbon Footprint of your business

Your Carbon Footprint

Global Position: The size of our carbon footprint depends on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) we put out into the atmosphere as a result of our personal or business activities. Carbon Dioxide is put out into the atmosphere when we use coal or gas for heating or electricity generation. Interestingly this includes the CO2 that has been emitted on our behalf during the production of the goods and services we use, e.g. transport of consumer goods and manufacture of raw materials. It is vital that the world's carbon footprint is reduced because of its contribution to global warming.

Government Position: Consuming fossil fuel as a source of energy is a major contributor to increasing global CO2 emissions. The Government is committed to reducing UK CO2 emissions by 26% by 2020 and then by 80% by 2050.

Business Carbon Footprint

Business Position: There is increasing pressure on businesses to develop environmental policies and cut their CO2 emissions through using less energy. This comes from the demands of customers and from increasing Government legislation. Cutting back on energy is key and the market for energy conservation products is growing rapidly. This presents businesses with an overwhelming array of options.
